19 May, Geneva, Switzerland: With four months to go, the registrations are now open for the United Nations High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Tuberculosis (TB) scheduled for 22 September 2023 in New York.

IMPORTANT DETAILS
- The following categories of relevant organizations that are not in consultative status with ECOSOC must express interest by clicking on the REGISTRATION LINK and they must apply for special accreditation.
- Non-governmental organizations
- Civil society organizations
- Academic institutions
- Private sector
- Applications for special accreditation must be submitted on behalf of the organization, not an individual.
- Stakeholder applications will be approved by UN member states, in accordance with the relevant General Assembly Resolution. The name of the organization and country, the homepage of the organization, and other details will be shared with the UN member states.
The Stop TB Partnership strongly encourages individuals and organizations as mentioned above, partners and stakeholders to register for the meeting ASAP. Following the deadline on 19 September, the process will continue with approval by UN member states, followed by communication to the applicants. Only from that moment onwards the visa application process can start and – as we learned during the process of registration for the Multi Stakeholders hearing – this can take upto few months. Therefore, to avoid last-minute challenges, please apply as soon as possible.
FORMAT
The high-level meeting will be convened by the President of the General Assembly (PGA) and will be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 22 September 2023 during the general debate of the Assembly at its seventy-eighth session. The meeting will be held from 10.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m., and consist of an opening segment, a plenary segment for general discussion, two multi-stakeholder panels and a brief closing segment.
“Five years have passed since the last UN high-level meeting on TB and we still have to work to achieve the targets and goals agreed upon in 2018. This September, I fear that we only have one shot left if we are to end TB by 2030 or even in our lifetime", said Dr. Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership.
The Stop TB Partnership is calling all global stakeholders working on the fight against TB to rally together, step up action and demand that this deadly, but treatable, curable, and preventable infectious disease is put at the top of the political agenda on a worldwide scale ahead of the crucial September meeting.
