17 September 2021, Geneva, Switzerland - The Stop TB Partnership is pleased to announce the names of the 76 organizations who will receive funding under Round 10 of the Challenge Facility for Civil Society (CFCS). Grants to the organizations from 27 countries and seven regions will range from USD 20 000 to USD 150 000, for a total of USD 7.5 million.
Round 10 was the largest ever CFCS call for proposals. The Stop TB Partnership received 290 applications requesting a total of USD 27 million in funding to support TB responses in countries with high burden of TB. This continued increase in demand from civil society and community organizations for funding demonstrates the need for, but also the remaining gaps in, funding for these groups to enable them to effectively contribute to the TB response in their communities. This high demand for funding indicates an opportunity for new donors to also invest in this area.
Supported mainly by USAID and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, CFCS is the Stop TB Partnership’s grant mechanism for TB-affected communities and civil society grassroots organizations. It supports national, regional, and global efforts to transform the TB response to promote and protect human rights, social justice and gender equality.

CFCS grants will support community and civil society actors at national, regional, and global levels to:
- Ensure an effective evidence base, advocacy, and engagement of diverse national stakeholders – including donors, private sector, technical and other partners - to monitor and ensure that the United Nations (UN) TB targets and commitments are met by 2022 and to support the efforts to organize a UN High-Level Meeting (UNHLM) on TB in 2023;
- Support COVID-19 recovery efforts of National TB Programmes in order to meet the UN TB targets, including by leveraging COVID-19 funding opportunities; and
- Transform the TB response to be rights-based, gender transformative, and people-centered, aligned with the UN Political Declaration on the Fight Against TB and the Call to Action from A Deadly Divide: TB Commitments vs. TB Realities.
The Stop TB Partnership looks forward to supporting this year’s grantees.
