Dr Mohammed Yassin has been an active member of the Core PPM WG for the last 10 years and contributed to expansion of innovative PPM models globally. I would be happy to take the responsibility if elected and continue contributing to PPM and ending TB.​

 

 

 

Below is summary of relevant experience:​

  •  Over 25-year experience in TB at different levels (PHC, sub-national, international) and playing different roles (physician, TB program manager, research/academic, epidemiologist, senior TB advisor).​
  •  As a physician and head of the pilot DOTS Centre, I treated thousands of TB patients in a health centre, in Ethiopia, when resources were scarce, and drugs were not available to everyone diagnosed (from 1995).​
  • Practiced medicine both in public and private sectors.​
  • Worked as manager of State TB Programme and expanded TB services throughout the state (both public and private).​
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing OR and implementation projects aiming to address gaps in quality/coverage and generating evidence.​
  • Serves as technical lead on TB for GF and worked closely with GF teams, NTPs, partners, including leading stakeholders’ engagement in thematic areas.​
  • I have been supporting high-TB-burden countries in Asia where PPM is a major component of TB response and advocate to increase budget for PPM activities in GF grants to expand innovative PPM models.
